The Government just made it easier to get in. New rules. More companies. Bigger opportunities. If you’re a young job-seeker in Delhi — this is the scheme you cannot afford to miss.
The 2026 Update: Why the Government Eased PM Internship Scheme Rules
The government has introduced major changes to the PM Internship Scheme rules, aimed at allowing more youth to participate and enabling more companies to offer internship opportunities across new sectors.
The government has also introduced a dedicated mobile app for the PM Internship Scheme, further simplifying the application process for young candidates — allowing them to easily apply, track updates, and secure internships in top companies.
The message from the government is clear — the old barriers are being removed. More youth, more companies, more opportunities.
What is the PM Internship Scheme 2026?
The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) 2026 is a flagship government initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry experience for young Indians. Under this programme, interns are placed with top companies spanning sectors such as banking, IT, manufacturing, oil & gas, infrastructure and more, for a structured 12-month professional engagement aimed at enhancing employability and practical skills.
Run by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the scheme gives fresh graduates and diploma holders the chance to work for 12 months with top companies, government offices, and public sector units.
The 5-year target? One crore internships in India’s top 500 companies.
How Much Will You Get Paid?
This is the question every applicant asks first — and the answer is solid.
Every selected candidate receives a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. Of this, ₹4,500 is paid by the Government via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and ₹500 is contributed by the host company from its CSR funds.
But that’s not all.
Upon joining, interns also receive a one-time incidentals grant of ₹6,000 to help cover initial expenses like professional attire, travel, or books.
And on top of the money:
Interns are provided with accidental insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and life insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, with premiums covered by the government.
