For most Delhi applicants — you will visit a PSK, not the RPO. The RPO is only for specific complex cases.

How to Book Passport Appointment Online — Step by Step

Step 1 — Register on the Portal Visit passportindia.gov.in and click “New User? Register Now.” Create your account with name, email and mobile number.

Step 2 — Login & Fill Application Log in with your credentials. Click “Apply for Fresh Passport / Re-Issue of Passport.” Fill the online form completely and accurately.

Step 3 — Generate ARN After submitting the form, your Application Reference Number (ARN) is generated. Note this number carefully — it is your tracking ID throughout the process.

Step 4 — Pay the Fee Go to “View Saved/Submitted Applications” → click “Pay and Schedule Appointment.” Pay online via Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI. Prior payment is mandatory before booking.

Step 5 — Book Your Appointment After payment, select your preferred PSK from the list and the available date and time. The system automatically allots appointment slots based on availability.

Step 6 — Print/Save Appointment Receipt Click “Print Application Receipt.” This contains your ARN, payment reference and appointment details. Carrying a printed receipt is not mandatory — an SMS with appointment details is also accepted at the PSK.

Important: You can cancel or reschedule your appointment only twice within one year of the first appointment date.

What Happens Inside the PSK — Counter by Counter

The high-level process at every Delhi Passport Seva Kendra follows this sequence:

Security Check (Entry): Guards verify your appointment letter/SMS and Application Reference Number (ARN). If your time slot doesn’t match or you don’t have the correct appointment details, entry may be denied.

Counter A — Token & Document Submission: You receive a token number and submit your documents for initial checking.

Counter B — Document Verification: Staff verify all your original documents against the copies. They are returned after verification.

Counter C — Biometrics: Your photograph and fingerprints are captured digitally. This is mandatory for all applicants. There is no need to bring your own photographs for adult applications.

Counter D — Supervisor Review (if needed): For complex cases, a supervisor reviews and approves before final submission.

Acknowledgement: You receive an acknowledgement slip with your file number — use this to track your application status.
